Who we are

hometable is operated by Anchored Development Co. ("ADC", "we", "us", or "our"), a sole proprietorship based in Nova Scotia, Canada. You can reach us at:

What information we collect

Information you provide directly

• Account information: Your name and email address when you create an account (via Google Sign-In or email/password).
• Household profile: Your province or territory, dietary preferences, and household size — used to personalise recipe suggestions and surface relevant local grocery deals.
• User-generated content: Shopping list items, meal plans, pantry contents, custom recipes, and notes you create within the app.
• Payment information: Billing is handled by Freemius Inc. as our Merchant of Record. We do not store your credit card number or payment details. Freemius handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.

Information collected automatically

• Account activity: Actions you take in the app (items added, meals planned, features used) stored in Firebase Firestore to provide the service.
• Authentication tokens: Managed by Firebase Authentication (Google). We do not store raw passwords.
• Aisle and store learning: When you re-categorise a shopping list item or assign it to a store, we remember your preference locally within your household to improve future suggestions. This data is associated with your household only.

Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your precise GPS location. We ask for your province to surface local grocery deals; we never access your device's location services.
• We do not run third-party advertising or tracking pixels.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

How we use your information

1. Provide and operate hometable — meal planning, shopping lists, pantry management, and recipe search.
2. Authenticate your identity and keep your account secure.
3. Generate AI-assisted recipe suggestions via the Anthropic Claude API, using your pantry contents and dietary preferences as context. We do not use your data to train AI models.
4. Surface Canadian grocery flyer deals relevant to your province.
5. Send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets) via Sender.net.
6. Send marketing emails only if you opted in (e.g., via our waitlist). You can unsubscribe at any time.
7. Improve and debug the service using aggregated, anonymised data.

Your data may be processed by these services in data centres outside Canada, including in the United States. Each provider is contractually required to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer (e.g., billing records).

Your rights under PIPEDA

As a Canadian resident, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Withdraw consent to the collection or use of your personal information (subject to legal or contractual restrictions).
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.

Children's privacy

hometable accounts are intended for adults (18+) managing a household. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without a parent's knowledge, contact us at hello@hometable.ca and we will delete it promptly.

Household members of any age may use shared features (meal plans, shopping lists) under a parent or guardian's account. Children do not create separate accounts.

Cookies and local storage

hometable uses browser local storage and session cookies solely for authentication purposes (to keep you signed in). We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of hometable after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
